Two Arrested in Tullos on Four Various Charges
LaSalle Parish Sheriff narcotic detectives, along with Tullos police officers, arrived at a residence on U.S. 84 in Tullos on Tuesday, April 10, for the purpose of serving an arrest warrant on Raymond Eugene Goodman, 43, of Tullos.
Upon arrival at the residence, officers saw Goodman enter the home and followed him inside where he was placed under arrest on the warrant for theft charges.
Narcotic officers noticed another man walking from the residence and approached him for identification purposes. Officers discovered that this person, Charles D. Leckie, 22, was a wanted fugitive in Grant Parish. Leckie had been evading Grant Parish authorities for the past 2½ years.
Officers detained Leckie and escorted him back to the residence. While securing this location, officers noticed an odor of burned marijuana throughout the residence and contacted the owner of the home, Lisa Leckie, by telephone and advised her of the situation.
Officers received permission from the owner to search the residence and soon found several items of drug paraphernalia, as well as suspected controlled dangerous substances inside the home and adjacent shop building.
Officers secured the illegal items as evidence and transported Goodman and Leckie to the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office in Jena where charges were filed against each man.
Charles Leckie agreed to give a statement admitting ownership of several of the illegal items and suspected narcotic drugs found in the residence.
The two men were booked into the parish jail on the following charges:
Charles D. Leckie – possession of CDS I, marijuana; possession of CDS II, methamphetamines; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Raymond Eugene Goodman – theft, $500 to $1,500.
Both men remained in the parish jail, as of press time Monday, awaiting a bond hearing.
